A lesson in texting .....

Must be sick....

Tried to send a text message the other day (while all the cold business was going on see below) to try and win some movie tickets for DIL. I don't use my phone much but do know how to text.

Well for some reason it would only underline and fill in the missing letters. Clicked the # button but couldn't get it to work properly. Started getting frustrated with it and wanted to teach it to fly. Anyway persevered for a while but because I was feeling lousy started getting upset. When a few tears fell I decided that was it I would ring DIL for help.

Then though "Wow they all think I am a genius it will ruin my image" - after all I'm the one with the mechanical engineering certificate!

Then thought about the phone call "Hello it's Mum (sob) I am (sob) trying to write (sob sob) a text message (sob) and I can't(sob wail wail sob) do it properly!! (wah wah sob sob).

Decided that was not the answer so I reverted to that seldom used solution - read the instructions - did the step by step and voila it worked.

What does this teach us all? Even though we think we really are know it all geniuses who can do anything at any time sometimes it pays to stash the instruction books somewhere handy just in case.

I recently found your blog. I experienced a similar situation some years ago. It's strange how I sometimes think no-one is able to understand how I felt, but reading stories like yours is like reading my own thoughts. I wish you all the strength. Enjoy every minute of life.
